Today is MATH LAB day..Students are working on their individualized SuccessMaker sessions, and then working through their Progress Reports on USA TestPrep.
Tonight, students are to watch the only video for Unit 4 ~ Relations & Functions.

Students completed their Test Corrections and turned them in at the end of class, along with their Unit 3 Packet.

DAY 64 ~ November 6th

I went over Unit 3 Test with students, then they began their Test Correction process with their writing strategy. Test Corrections and Packet for Unit 3 is due tomorrow.

Students worked hard on finishing up volume for cylinders, and cones. Then we moved into solving volume for spheres.

On Monday, a benchmark quiz will be given to help prepare the students for their Unit 3 test this Wednesday.

At the beginning of class, we discussed the Map Activity since students had some questions. I gave them some time class to finish and turn in the project. Then we moved on to Volume - Cylinders. I assigned a few homework problems to practice.

Today, students began their Map Activity Project to apply the Pythagorean Theorem to Real World applications.

Students took a Q1 Practice Exam in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses to prepare them for their Final Exam on MONDAY.

DAY 38 ~ September 30th

After a 6 week long unit, today is the day for our Unit 2 TEST. Students have been working hard on their Study Guide project, and their Unit Packets, which are BOTH due TODAY.

Students came into the Math Lab and worked on their SuccessMaker sessions. Afterwards, they continued to work on their Unit 2 SG project.

DAY 36 ~ September 26th

As students came into class, they started right away checking over each other's Section 5 - Operations with Scientific Notation. Then we moved into our last section, Section 6 - Multi-step Equations.

DAY 35 ~ September 25th

Students went right to work on checking each other's Section 4 - Exponent Rules, then went into Section 5 - Operations w/Scientific Notation. Whatever was not finished in class, was assigned for homework.

DAY 34 ~ September 24th

Students began class checking each others first 3 sections of their Study Guide Project. Today's benchmark was to work on Section 4 - Exponent Rules. Again, if they did not finish it in class, then the rest is for homework.

DAY 33 ~ September 23rd

Students were given their Unit 2 Study Guide Project. Today's benchmark was to work on the first 3 sections - Classify Real Numbers, Radicals, and Converting. If they did not finish in class, then it was assigned for HW.

As you know, Mondays are Math Lab day. Students have an assigned Quiz: Multi-step Equations waiting on them as they come in, then they will work on their SuccessMaker sessions.

Tomorrow students will begin their Study Guide Project for Unit 2, and then Unit 1 for the Q1 Exams.
Unit 2 Test will be given on September 30th.

DAY 31 ~ September 19th

Students practiced and practiced and practiced some more over multi-step equations. I'm excited to see how they perform on Monday for their quiz over this objective.

Students continued to work on solving various types of multi-step equations - DP, CLT, VBS.

Each class was assigned a specific set of problems for homework.

DAY 29 ~ September 17th

Last night students watched the video: Multi-Step Equations.

Today, we spent the entire class time walking through the various types of multi-step equations that they will encounter:

DP -  Distributive Property
CLT - Combine Like Terms
VBS - Variables on Both Sides

I assigned each class period a set of homework problems in their Equation Packet.

Today students reviewed over ALL five exponent rules along with applying them to multiplying/dividing/adding/subtracting scientific notation.
Their homework this weekend is to STUDY for their QUIZ on Monday (EARLY RELEASE DAY).

We checked over the homework solutions over multiplying/dividing scientific notation. Today, class time was spent showing mastery to the objective: multiplying and dividing scientific notation. Classes were sent home with a few problems to practice over.

DAY 23 ~ September 9th

1st period began class with their presentations over their video reflections.

Last night students were to watch the video titled: Scientific Notations. When students came into class they had an understanding on how to multiply/divide/add/subtract scientific numbers. In class, we reviewed the process for multiplying and dividing scientific numbers, then assigned each class specific problems to finish for homework (golden rod color worksheet).

Mondays are spent in the Math Lab to work on their individualized SuccessMaker program. After they complete their session, students will log into USA TestPrep to complete their Benchmark Assessment over the FIVE Exponent Rules.

DAY 21 ~ September 5th

Today, we discussed ALL FIVE exponent rules. Students were put into groups to work on their video reflection presentations. Then spent the rest of class time practicing all five of the rules. Students will be given a benchmark quiz over the five exponent rules on Monday.

DAY 20 ~ September 4th

UNIT 1 TEST CORRECTIONS are DUE!!!

Today, we spent additional time in class practicing and practicing and practicing on the FOUR exponent rules that we have been discussing in class.
Tonight, students will be watching the last exponent rule video: Dividing Monomials.

DAY 19 ~ September 3rd

Students came to class after watching the video: Multiplying Monomials. This video added TWO additional exponent rules ~ Multiplying and Power to Power. After we spent some time reviewing and discussing the FOUR exponent rules so far, students practice and practiced, and then they practiced some more over those objectives.
UNIT 1 Test Corrections are DUE tomorrow!!!

DAY 18 ~ September 2nd

We discussed two exponent rules from the video they watched over the holiday weekend: Zero/Negative Exponents. Students spent the remainder of class practicing those 2 exponent rules.
Tonight, students are to watch the video titled: Multiplying Monomials.

DAY 17 ~ August 29th

Students took a timed quiz over the Perfect Squares and Cubes. Then they completed their quiz over classifying real numbers, estimating and approximating non-perfect squares.

After the quiz, we went over the Unit 1 Test and began the test correction process using a writing strategy to receive partial credit. The test correction process is an option that I offer the students in lieu of retaking the test. Students need to learn the correct process in solving the objectives. The Test corrections will be due next week.

DAY 16 ~ August 28th

When students came in we reviewed over some perfect squares with our flashcards.

Students participated in a review game for their quiz tomorrow. The objectives covered on tomorrow's quiz: classifying real numbers, estimating irrational numbers, perfect squares, and perfect cubes.

Students were given a TOTD to help review for quiz.

DAY 15 ~ August 27th

We took a few minutes to review over the Square & Square Roots video AND the Cube & Cube Roots video.
Students used the videos to help them create their Number Line Activity. Students were able to use those numbers to help them estimate irrational numbers. Then we took estimating irrational numbers to the next level and applied that objective to approximating irrational numbers to the tenths place value.

Students were sent home to complete a set of 32 flashcards for Perfect Squares/Cubes, and had 3 problems to approximate.

DAY 14 ~ August 26th

We discussed The Real Number System, and how they will be implementing specific types of numbers in other units.
Then we moved to our Real Number Activity to help students with classifying numbers, ordering and comparing numbers.
I sent students home to watch 2 videos (5 minutes each) and to complete those video notes in their Packets. When they come to class tomorrow, pages 1 - 6 in their packets should be complete INCLUDING the practice problems.

DAY 13 ~ August 25th

MATH LAB day!! Students will be working on their individualized SuccessMaker program. Once students work through SuccessMaker, they will log into USA TestPrep and work on their "Progress Report". This progress report shows their % on each objectives mastery level.

DAY 12 ~ August 22nd

Unit 1 Test, here we come!! Students are ready to take today's test. They will realize that if you study and work hard, they will be successful!!

DAY 11 ~ August 21st

Students continued to practice over the following objectives for their Unit 1 test tomorrow: Angle Pair Relationships, Parallel Lines Cut by a Transversal, Transformations - Translations, Reflections, Rotations, and Dilations. Good Luck tomorrow!!!

DAY 10 ~ August 20th

Students have been working hard practicing and reviewing for this Unit 1 Test on Friday. Today, we continued to practice on Angle Pair Relations and Parallel Lines Cut by a Transversal. There was no video to watch, however students were assigned problems to practice over the objectives mentioned above.

We discussed Angle Pair Relationships and Parallel Lines cut by a transversal. Students were assigned various problems for homework (pink sheet), along with the video: Triangle Sum & Exterior Angle Theorem.

DAY 8 ~ August 18th

Students started their weekly visits to the Math Lab today. During Monday sessions, students work at their own individualized pace through a research based program known as SuccessMaker. This program identifies each student's strengths as well as their own weaknesses.

After students finish their IPM (Progress Monitoring) stage, then the program places students at their own level, and will work through the math skills that they are struggling with. After their session of SuccessMaker, students will then log into their USA TestPrep (online) and work through their own progress report to show mastery on each objective.

Today, students took their first quiz over transformations.

DAY 4 ~ August 12th

We reviewed over how translations affect objects, and began looking at reflections. Our main focus today was reflecting over the x-axis and the y-axis, then we will add other lines.

DAY 3 ~ August 11th

Students received their Unit 1 SSS Packet. I explained my expectations when they are watching the videos and completing their notes for each video.

In class, we watched half of their first video and filled in their notes. After the video, students practiced applying translations on pages 2 - 3 of their packets #1 - 5.

Students were sent home to finish watching the rest of the video and to complete the notes only.
